Adopt a cat

We’re so happy that you’re thinking of adopting a cat from us!

Before we invite you to our cattery to meet your future pet, there are a few things we’ll need you to do!

Here’s everything you need to know about adopting our kittens:

Visit our internal bulletin board or our Instagram to see which cats are looking for their furever homes:

If you’ve fallen in love with one after looking at our available kittens, that’s great! But if you can’t choose and would like to meet them in person, we can arrange for a meeting after you’ve filled in an Adopters’ Questionnaire. Which brings us to our next step:

We’d like to get to know you better and understand if your home will be a suitable environment for one of our cats. Please fill up the Adopters’ Questionnaire here:

What's in the Adopters' Questionnaire? (click to expand)

There are requirements in order for a successful adoption to take place, and before we invite you to the cattery, we’d love to know more about you. Here’s what we need to know:

  1. Your age.

  2. Your occupation. Please state also your working hours.

  3. How many other members in the household – friends and family members.

  4. Whether or not the other members in the household are in agreement with the adoption decision. If you live with family members or housemates, they should be present during the adoption visit.

  5. Who the primary caregiver of the cat will be in your household. For instance, who will be in charge of feeding, clearing the litter, paying for veterinary expenses and pet supplies, bringing the cat to the vet in cases of emergency etc. That person must be present during the adoption visit and should be the one signing the adoption agreement.

  6. Whether you have or had any cats, and other pets. Do share the history of current or previous pets. Please state if your cats are neutered and indoor-only.

  7. Your type of accommodation

  8. Is your house cat-safe? This means that all open windows need to be meshed or blocked, and closed windows must remain closed. Photo evidence needs to be shown of meshed windows when you visit our foster home. Also, the cat needs to be a strictly indoor cat.

  9. If you are an overseas expat working in Singapore, we’d like to know concrete plans of what would happen to the cat if you should return to your home country, or go to other countries to work or study. We also need to know your residency status and length of stay in Singapore.

The questionnaire should take about 10-20 minutes to fill in.

After you fill up the questionnaire, we’ll invite you to come visit the cattery to interact with the kittens that you might be interested in! We may ask you to make several visits; if you have another pet, we may ask you to bring toys with the pet’s scent so your potential new kitten will get used to them.

Adopting a cat is a long-term commitment, and we need our adopters to fully understand the responsibilities involved.

Adoption fees

Love Kuching Project has high operating costs as we have a comprehensive setup to provide rehabilitation and care to cats and kittens under our care. All cats and kittens adopted from us are well cared for by our volunteers with big hearts.

We charge an adoption fee of $65 to treat and rehabilitate our cats and kittens. This rate is based on the adoption rates of various animal rescue organisations. Our adoption fees are meant to deter pet abandonment, help us to defray our operating costs so that we can help more cats in need, and we sincerely hope that by paying the fee, adopters do not resell the kitty for profit.
